It was a time of connections, being made and made stronger with time
A time of sitting together and talking about our lives and our dreams
It was a time of connections, being made and eventually left to wilt
Of naivete and arrogance, of mistakes and betrayals.
It was a time of learning. Learning how foolish I've been
Learning there's more to life than learning in a class
Learning to live on my own terms, learning to oppose and contradict
Learning to care for people, and learning to sometimes not care about people
It was a time of joy, a time of grief, a time of doubt, and a time of certainty.
There were days I've felt magical, and there were days of oppressive sadness.
Days I've felt capable as a god, days I couldn't get out of bed
As I left the place once and for all, I couldn't help but wonder, could I have done more, done better?
I told a friend, I feel like I am half the man I could have been
They said, why don't you see that you are twice the man you were
And that was all I needed to hear.
And this place, friends, teachers, people I always greet but never get a chance to talk to
All this, it will always be a part of who I am.
But one has to move, move forward, move to new places, new horizons, and new people.
Life is a journey, and although we may be caught up about our destination, it's worth the time to pause,
To pause and to reminisce how far we've come. How much better the road and the view are over here,
And how incredible the company is!
Sifting through photos for this gave me a bittersweet heartache. God I’ll miss these people.
If there’s some advice I’d like to give it’s this: Do things, talk to people, get out of your room, join that club you’ve wanted to, plan parties, walks, movie nights, learn that rusting guitar, plan your career, work hard, and look out for people whom you love, and who love you. Farewell ❤️
