Since the pandemic hit us in March 2020, universities all around the world have been teaching remotely. Amidst this new form of learning, lots of questions, anxieties, highs and lows have been experienced. We answer some pressing and some not-so-pressing questions specific to the online semester at IITK.

Q. What is the benefit of online PE101?

A. For once in your life you don’t have to lie about doing something physical.

Q. Does one have a shot at their engineering degree without going to labs?

A. Statistically speaking, 7 out of 10 engineering graduates confessed to never attending a lab and were also quoted saying “Wow, that giant robot scale looks great!” when a drafter was shown to them..

Q. I learnt to draw a double helix in LIF101. Am I ready to extract DNA?

A. I prepared for 4 years to give JEE. Am I ready to craft nuclear bombs out of my dad’s motorcycle?

Q. How to get started with TA101?

Somethings did not change in the online paradigm after all…

Q. How do I pass quizzes without preparing for them?

A. Aren’t you from an IIT? Hack mooKIT or something. Call yourself the yogurt of the nation, oh wait, yogurts are cultured.

Q. How do I get the professor to reply to my doubts in the mooKIT forum?

A. Create a forum. Send the forum link in your groups. Ask your friends to like and spam ‘++’ on it. 314 likes on a forum post is the perfect eyeball bait for any professor.

Q. Do you think Y20s can make good SGs?

A. A compass needs calibration before it starts working.

Q. What’s your opinion on fests going online?

A. We’ll be able to have an opinion once they let us into the meeting.

Q. Are there any upsides to the online semester at all?

A. Yes. You can do anything but be in class, and still be in class.

Q. I don’t want to do another online semester and just lay in bed all day. What to do?
