About Deloitte
My internship at Deloitte was probably one of the most enriching and rewarding experiences of my life. I learnt a lot of exciting new things, and at the same time got to meet interesting people who were knowledgeable, dedicated and humble. Giving a brief idea about the organization, Deloitte is a global professional services firm providing audit, tax, consulting, enterprise risk and financial advisory services. It’s one of the ‘big four’ firms providing services to clients worldwide. Their selection process for interns consists of an aptitude test of basic mathematical and verbal reasoning questions. This is followed by a case study and personal interview.

Work Profile
I worked as a Technology Consultant Intern for Deloitte’s Hyderabad Office. The team I was assigned was developing HR Related Solutions for our client, a cosmetic and fashion industry giant. I cannot actually disclose the work I did due to client confidentiality, but to give an overview, it was primarily in the Business Intelligence and Data-Warehouse domain (popularly known as BI/DW), and entailed developing and analyzing reports in key areas concerning HR Analytics (like attrition, growth, and workforce profile). This was to be done by understanding and employing BI and Analytics tools like OBIEE, SAP BO and IBM Cognos (I worked on Oracle’s Business Intelligence Suite). It was interesting to see how big multinational firms actually handle their workforce-related issues and tackle critical problems concerning organizational growth. It was equally amazing to see the data getting churned into insightful analytics. Regarding the software, none to little prior knowledge about Business Intelligence Tools and software was required as there were regular “Knowledge-Transfer sessions” and “Weekly Connects” with the team to bridge the skill-gap.
Life at Deloitte
The best thing about the organization is the Deloitte culture. The work culture is at par with the best organizations in the world. Everyone, be it a Business Technology Associate or a Senior Manager, is very friendly and always open to suggestions. For instance, a senior manager asked me what they should do to make the internship a more enriching and rewarding experience, and how they could cater us better. One can discuss almost about anything with anyone at the workplace, which gives a feeling of great comfort. During the lunch break of our final presentations, we indulged in discussions regarding Germany’s victory over Brazil and betting on which teams would advance to the finals.
All in all, it was a wonderful and enjoyable experience working at Deloitte, and I would recommend giving it a shot. Cheers!
